The Bread Community is growing! And some of you live across the country or across the sea, and thanks to Virtual World, we can meet online. I’ve had a dream for many years now, to have people all over the world mixing dough together, as a way of weaving peace, and this opportunity will bring me that much closer.

I’m offering the chance to take my online Sourdough for Beginners class once a month for $45. *You will need to have your own active, bubbly starter to participate so you have three options: 

  1. once registered, I can send you my Simple Sourdough Recipe which will take you 5 or so days to create your own starter from scratch.
  2. You can order dried starter from me here (link to shop) and I prepare it for you and ship it to you before the class.
  3. Ask a neighbor or a friend who makes sourdough to gift you some and then just make sure you give it two feeds (1 cup whole grain flour, 1 cup water) before the class begins. More info on this will be sent to you after registration.

The LIVE class will be about 3 hours, with the first 2 hours being the teaching portion. Hour 3 will be a Q & A, where you will have the opportunity to ask whatever questions you have. If you’ve taken the class and just want to join for a Q & A portion, that is fine too. Space is limited, so sign up quickly to reserve your spot!

You will need this list of props and ingredients to participate in the class:

Flour (organic, whole grain preferred)

Water

Sourdough Starter (aka leaven, mother)

Sea Salt

Mixing Bowl

Kitchen towel

And other props for baking the following day:

Dutch oven or bread pan with lid (aluminum foil will work too)

Scoring tool/lame/sharp knife

Parchment paper

As a general rule, the class will be the THIRD SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH. I have been able to keep the cost down so more people can get involved and dive in but keep in mind, it is not recorded and there are no refunds for tickets purchased due to the nature of the class.
